David Luiz (27-Brentford) could be Tottenham’s first signing of the summer.
Tottenham will be managed by Enze Postecoglou from next season. With a new manager at the helm, the club is looking for a goalkeeper. Longtime Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, 36, is set to leave the club and they will need to find a replacement.
The most likely candidate is Laya. Laya has been Brentford’s goalkeeper since the 2019-20 season. From the second tier (Championship), Raya has been a mainstay in the team’s starting lineup, even after promotion to the English Premier League (EPL). This season, he made 37 appearances and finished fifth in fewest goals conceded with 46.
Raya has excellent build-up play and an accurate kick for a Spaniard. He is also involved in Brentford’s build-up from the back, 스포츠토토 which adds to their attacking play. He is also quick on his feet. At 6-foot-2, he’s not the tallest goalkeeper, but his agility allows him to make saves.
The battle for Raya was fierce. Tottenham, Manchester United, and others wanted him. With only one year left on his contract at Brentford, Raya rejected a renewal offer, indicating his desire for a new challenge.
The winner is likely to be Tottenham. European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Wednesday (July 13), “Tottenham and Laya’s personal agreement is complete. Lallana has made it clear that he wants to leave Brentford. Tottenham and Brentford are now discussing the final transfer fee.”
Brentford want £40 million for Laya. Tottenham, on the other hand, want half that amount, around £20 million. There is still a gap between the two clubs, but with the player’s strong desire to move on, a deal is likely to be reached quickly.
