SSG Hyojun Ko wins ZOAH Pharma Weekly MVP for the second week of May

SSG Landers veteran pitcher Ko Hyo-joon (40) was named the ZOA Pharmaceuticals Weekly MVP (Most Valuable Player) for the second week of May.

Ko appeared in four games during the period, posting a 1-0 record. In total, he pitched four innings of one-hit ball, striking out five and walking none. “It’s been a long time since I’ve received an award like this,” said Ko.

Ko was drafted by the Lotte Giants in 2002 (6th overall, 1st round).

He later played for the SK Wyverns 토토사이트 (now SSG) and KIA Tigers before returning to the Lotte Giants and being released after the 2020 season. He tried out for the LG Twins, but was released after pitching just three games. In 2022, he tried out again and was accepted by SSG manager Kim Won-hyung, and has been playing ever since.

He redeemed himself last year with a 1-7 record and a 3.72 ERA in 45 games, and has looked even better this season with a 2-1 record and a 3.00 ERA in 26 games through seven days. Noh is tied for second on the team in appearances with Seo Jin-yong, showing off his veteran strength.

“I want to do better and have a long career,” he said.

The award was presented by Lim Hye-rim, an employee of Zoa Pharmaceutical’s new product research team, before the Samsung Lions game at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on April 1.
