Moises Kayseredo, who has been heavily linked to Arsenal, is set to don a Chelsea shirt.
Fabrizio Romano, a journalist familiar with European soccer news, said on Saturday (April 16), “Chelsea are working on a deal with Caicedo. Talks are ongoing with the player’s side and a contract offer has been finalized. Personal terms are almost agreed. The deal is not yet finalized. Chelsea are expecting around £80 million. It will also guarantee the departure of manager Roberto De Zerbi,” the report said.
Caicedo is one of those midfielders whose future is more promising than his present. He was born in 2001 and has shown plenty of potential at a young age. He started last season in a Brighton shirt, spending the first half of the season on loan before returning to the team in January. In the second half of the season, he became a regular in the starting lineup and anchored Brighton’s midfield alongside Yves Bissouma.
A midfielder who can play both offense 안전놀이터 and defense. Caicedo usually plays in a central midfield or defensive midfield role and is a box-to-box type of player. His strengths include linking up, penetration, shooting, and positioning.
He has been an integral part of the team this season. Caicedo made 37 appearances in the English Premier League (EPL) and was a key part of Brighton’s rise alongside Alexis Sanchez. He also excelled at the World Cup. He represented Ecuador at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Although Ecuador was eliminated in the group stage, Caicedo was a solid presence in the midfield.
His performances attracted interest from big clubs. Arsenal were the first to be linked. The Gunners wanted him badly in January. The Gunners even offered £70 million for the player. At the time, the player was so keen to leave that he missed training, but he ended up staying.
The Gunners also considered a move this summer. “Arsenal are preparing to submit an offer for Kaysedo,” said journalist Chris Wheatley, who is familiar with Arsenal news. The Gunners are expected to make a similar offer to the £75 million Brighton rejected in January.” However, the Gunners were gradually linked with Caido less frequently as they focused on signing Declan Rice.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit. After N’Golo Kante’s departure, Chelsea’s first target was Manuel Ugarte. However, with Ugarte opting for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), they turned to Caicedo as a second option. If Caicedo leaves, Brighton will lose two midfielders along with McAllister (→Liverpool), who has been an integral part of their midfield this season.
