‘Hanwha-bound rumor’ Ortega released by Texas

Veteran outfielder Rafael Ortega (32), who has been rumored to join the KBO’s Hanwha Eagles, is a free agent.

Ortega was released by the Texas Rangers on Aug. 8 (KST), according to MLB Trade Rumors.

Ortega has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Brian O’Grady. Recently, he was in the news for following Hanwha’s official Instagram account.

The veteran has played in 364 games over six seasons in the major leagues, batting .250 with a .322 on-base percentage and .361 slugging 스포츠토토 percentage. As a left-handed hitter, he was particularly strong against right-handers (.260/0.329/0.385). He can play all outfield positions.

This season, he hasn’t been able to make it to the big leagues. He signed with the New York Yankees and participated in spring training, but was released after failing to make the opening day roster, and signed with Texas in late March.

In 44 games at Triple-A Round Rock, Ortega batted .226 with a .333 on-base percentage, .381 slugging percentage, five home runs and 26 RBIs.

It remains to be seen if Ortega will sign with Hanwha as rumored. The important thing is that he is now a free agent. If he thinks he still has a chance in the big leagues, he could look for another contract.
